About Voxel Foundry
Voxel Foundry is currently the side project of a single developer. It all started when I went searching for an app like Book Gems, but I couldn’t find one that was simple and inexpensive. So I decided to build it myself. It remains to be seen if other apps will follow. Hopefully I’ll have some more ideas and the time to create them.
I have been in software development for over 30 years and have written code for everything from PC programs to enterprise-class web services. I have worked for companies as small as 8 people, as well as for behemoths like Microsoft and Intuit.
What’s with that name?
I’ve used one phrase constantly throughout my career: “Naming is hard.” Usually I’m referring to the difficulty of naming variables, functions, and classes in code. But it turns out naming a company is hard too. I wanted something that conveyed “digital creations,” but all the obvious ones were taken. So Voxel Foundry it is.
What’s a voxel?
It comes from 3D computer graphics. It’s a 3D pixel, or Volumetric Pixel.
